The 9th Street Bridge has been a part of Tyrone’s History since the late 19th century! Holding a tremendous amount of significance to both the residents and to the region as a whole, The Tyrone Area Historical Society has taken on the task of raising the necessary funds to help the Tyrone Borough restore this Tyrone Landmark!
With the majority of the current borough members in support of restoring The 9th Street Bridge, they have submitted an application for a grant that would cover all except $100,000.00 of the proposed $300,000.00 total restoration cost. That said, the Tyrone Area Historical Society offered to pay for the $20,000.00 required to make the bridge ADA Compliant, giving it a concrete ramp and stairs so the handicapped can both enjoy the bridge and use it to get from 9th street to the Rail Park (and possibly our history museum)!
