The Tyrone Area Historical Society is located in central Pennsylvania. Founded in 1990, the Society is committed to the stories of Tyrone, Snyder Township, Warriors Mark and Sinking Valley in Blair and Huntingdon counties. Our mission is to encourage the community to preserve and share the unique history of Tyrone and the surrounding communities.

The Tyrone History Museum opens for the 2017 season on Sunday, April 9. An exhibit "Sports: An Important Part of Tyrone History" will be a special feature. The photographs in this exhibit are from the Society's collection and highlight both community and high school sports from the late 19th through the 1950s. Plan a visit to the museum with your favorite sports fan!
